Definition
投影 means 'projection' — the image cast on a surface, or the act of projecting it. It is a separable verb (离合词) when used as v.o.: you can split the characters with 了, 过, or a measure word, e.g. 投了一次影 ('projected once'). It's common in technology (投影仪), film (投影屏幕), and geometry contexts.
