Definition
搞笑 (gǎo xiào) is both a verb ('to make people laugh') and an adjective ('funny, hilarious'), especially common in comedy and entertainment. Unlike 好笑 (hǎo xiào), which can carry a negative 'laughable' tone, 搞笑 is purely positive and playful. It is more specific to deliberate humor than 逗 (dòu), which also means 'to tease' and is more colloquial.
