Definition
擦掉 is a resultative verb compound (r.v.) where 掉 acts as a complement indicating removal or disappearance. You can separate it with 得 (potential) or 不 (negative potential) to express possibility: 擦得掉 (can be wiped off), 擦不掉 (cannot be wiped off).
