Definition
敬畏 (jìng wèi) means to revere with a sense of awe or fear — it combines respect and dread, stronger than the pure respect of 尊敬 (zūnjìng) and different from the pure fear of 畏惧 (wèijù). It is used for forces of nature, ancestors, or something majestic that inspires both admiration and humility.
