Definition
整治 has three main senses: regulating/controlling problems (e.g., traffic, a river), repairing/restoring objects, and colloquially disciplining a person. For sense 1, it is hands-on correction, unlike 调控 (tiáokòng, macro-regulation) and less permanent than 根治 (gēnzhì, radical cure). For sense 2, it implies systematic restoration, more formal than the general fix 修理 (xiūlǐ).
