昌盛 (chāngshèng) is a formal, literary adjective meaning 'prosperous' — used almost exclusively for nations, cultures, or institutions in written Chinese. It is more elevated and less common than 繁荣 (fánróng), the everyday word for a booming economy or city. Unlike 兴旺 (xīngwàng) and 兴隆 (xīnglóng), which often describe a business or family, 昌盛 is reserved for grand, abstract entities.
