杀毒 (shā dú) is the computing term for scanning and removing computer viruses (e.g., 杀毒软件 'antivirus software'). 消毒 (xiāo dú) is the general word for disinfecting surfaces, wounds, or objects — do not use 杀毒 for cleaning a table or a cut.
