Definition
架 (jià) is a general word for a physical frame, rack, or stand. It is broader than 架子 (shelf/rack, also 'airs'), 框 (picture frame/border), 支架 (support/stent), 框架 (framework), and 骨架 (skeleton/framework). As a verb, 架 means 'to erect or set up' (e.g., a bridge or a map), similar to 竖立 but more colloquial and often used for putting something on a support.
