Definition
查 (chá) is the everyday verb for looking up information (like in a dictionary) or checking something. It is broader than 查找 (cházhǎo), which emphasizes actively searching for something, and more common than 搜 (sōu), which implies a thorough search. For consulting a reference, use 参考 (cānkǎo) instead.
