Definition
桶 (tǒng) is a general word for a bucket, barrel, or trash can — a deep, open-top container, often cylindrical. It's different from 盆 (pén 'basin'), which is wider and shallower, and from 罐 (guàn 'jar, can'), which is smaller and often sealed. 容器 (róng qì) is the broad, abstract term for any container.
