Definition
歪曲 (wāiqū) means 'to distort, misrepresent' and is used only for abstract things like facts, truth, or someone's words. 扭曲 (niǔqū) can also mean this, but it additionally has a physical sense of 'twisting' something (e.g., metal). For figurative distortion, 歪曲 is more specific to deliberate misrepresentation.
