Definition
比试 has two distinct uses: (1) to have a competition or test of skill — often physical, but can be mental (比试围棋, 比试手艺). You'll see it with 一下 (比试一下) for a quick attempt, or with measure words like 场 for rounds (比试了一场). (2) to measure roughly with your hand or arm, or to gesture a measurement (比桌子高度, 比划大小). The second sense overlaps with 比划.
