Definition
沉浸 (chén jìn) means 'to be immersed' — it is used both literally (soak in liquid) and, more commonly, figuratively (absorbed in an atmosphere, activity, or emotion). Unlike 浸泡 (jìn pào), which is strictly for physical soaking in liquid, 沉浸 emphasizes a deep, enveloping state. It is also different from 沉 (chén), which means 'to sink' (an action) or 'heavy'.
