沮丧 (jǔsàng) means dispirited or dejected, typically as a temporary reaction to a specific setback or disappointment. It is more common and less severe than 忧郁 (yōuyù, deep melancholy) or 消沉 (xiāochén, prolonged low spirits), and more emotional than 气馁 (qìněi, discouraged/losing heart). Unlike 颓废 (tuífèi), it does not imply decadence or moral decline.
