Definition
浇水 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to water (plants)'. The verb 浇 and the noun 水 can split when you add aspect markers or measure words: 浇了水 ('watered'), 浇过水 ('have watered'), 浇一次水 ('water once'). The thing being watered is introduced with 给: 给花浇水 ('water the flowers').
