Definition

浸泡 (jìnpào) is the general, neutral verb for 'to soak/steep' objects in liquid for a period of time. It is more formal and specific than 泡 (pào), which is colloquial and has broader meanings (e.g. 泡脚, 泡茶). 沏 (qī) is only used for steeping tea, while 沉浸 (chénjìn) often carries a figurative sense of immersion.
