Definition
涨 (zhàng) means 'to swell' from absorbing moisture or internal pressure — used for beans, wood, or a bloated feeling. Unlike 肿 (zhǒng, swelling from injury/illness) or 膨胀 (péng zhàng, expansion of gas/economy), 涨 is about physical swelling from liquid or fullness. It's distinct from 涨 (zhǎng, to rise in price/water level).
