Definition
淡化 has two main senses: (1) to downplay or trivialize, making something seem less important, and (2) to desalinate (remove salt from water). Unlike 减弱 (weaken in force or intensity), 淡化 implies deliberately reducing perceived importance or concentration; unlike 贬低 (belittle people or value), 淡化 targets issues, memories, or physical salinity.
