Definition
生效 (shēng xiào) means 'to take effect' and is used for laws, contracts, and policies becoming legally valid. It differs from 奏效 (zòu xiào, 'to produce desired result') and 见效 (jiàn xiào, 'to show results'), which focus on the effectiveness of methods or treatments rather than legal validity.
