Definition
畜 (chù) is a bound morpheme meaning 'domestic animal' or 'livestock'. It does not stand alone in modern Chinese; it always appears in compounds such as 牲畜 (shēngchù, livestock) and 家畜 (jiāchù, domestic animal). Do not confuse this noun reading with the verb 畜 (xù, to raise animals), which has the same character but a different tone and meaning.
