Definition
触 (chù) can stand alone as a verb meaning 'to touch' or 'to make contact with', often with a sense of slight or incidental contact. It also extends to emotional or abstract contact: 'to stir up feelings' or 'to trigger a reaction'. As a bound form (b.f.), it appears in many common two-syllable words like 接触 ('to come into contact'), 触动 ('to move/touch emotionally'), 触发 ('to trigger'), and 触犯 ('to offend').
