Definition
瘦 (shòu) is a general adjective for 'thin' — it can describe people, animals, tight clothes, or lean meat. 苗条 (miáo tiao) is more specific: it means 'slim and graceful' and is only used for a woman's figure, always with a positive tone. 瘦 can sometimes imply being too thin (negative), while 苗条 is always a compliment.
