Definition
碍眼 is a separable verb-object compound meaning 'to be an eyesore' or 'to offend the eye' — something that looks out of place or is visually unpleasant. It can also be used as a stative verb (s.v.) to describe something that is in the way or obstructs the view. The verb 碍 ('to hinder') and the noun 眼 ('eye') can split when inserting measure words or other elements: 碍了什么眼 ('what eyesore').
