Definition
碴 (chā) is a bound form (不能单独使用) that appears in compounds meaning 'jagged edge, broken piece, or rough surface'. Common compounds include 玻璃碴 (glass shards), 碴口 (jagged edge), and 碴子 (debris). Note that the same character is also pronounced chá in 找碴 (to pick a quarrel), but this entry covers the chā reading.
