Definition
渣 (zhā) is a noun meaning 'dregs, residue' — the physical or figurative worthless leftovers. Unlike 糟粕 (zāo pò), which is almost always figurative (cultural/intellectual waste), 渣 can be literal (tea dregs, slag) or figurative (scum of society). 残留 (cán liú) is a verb for 'to remain' as a trace, not a noun for the waste itself.
