神态 (shéntài) refers to a person's facial expression and overall bearing, especially as it reveals their inner state. It is broader than 脸色 (liǎnsè, which focuses on complexion or a momentary look) and more nuanced than 样子 (yàngzi, a general word for appearance). Unlike 举止 (jǔzhǐ, which is about physical behavior/manners), 神态 emphasizes the look on the face and the air someone carries.
