简洁 (jiǎn jié) means 'concise, succinct' — it describes speech or writing that is clear and to the point without unnecessary words. Compared to 简练 (jiǎn liàn, 'concise and refined') and 精练 (jīng liàn, 'concise and well-expressed'), 简洁 focuses more on the absence of excess than on the skill of expression. 简要 (jiǎn yào) is more about being brief and summarizing.
