Definition
糙 (cāo) means rough or coarse in texture (e.g. 糙米 'brown rice'), and by extension, something done with poor workmanship. It is a stative verb that often appears in the compound 粗糙 (cūcāo), but can be used alone in colloquial speech to criticize shoddy work. Do not use it to describe a person's skill level — use 不熟练 or 生疏 instead.
