紧急 (jǐnjí) is the standard adjective for 'urgent' or 'emergency' — used for situations that require immediate action, often in formal or official contexts. It is more serious than 急 (jí), which can also mean 'hurried' or 'anxious'. Compared to 紧迫 (jǐnpò, 'pressing, time-critical') and 迫切 (pòqiè, 'urgent need/desire'), 紧急 focuses on the crisis or danger of a situation.
