Definition
繁衍 (fányǎn) refers to the natural biological process of multiplying or reproducing, especially for species or populations over generations. It is distinct from 繁殖 (fánzhí), which focuses more narrowly on the act of breeding or propagating; 繁衍 carries a broader sense of continuous growth and lineage. Unlike 复制 (fùzhì), which means to copy or clone artificially, 繁衍 is always natural and living.
