Definition
经验 (jīngyàn) means 'experience' as the knowledge or skill you gain from doing something (e.g., work experience). It's different from 经历 (jīnglì), which refers to the events or situations you have personally lived through. In short, 经验 is the know-how you take away; 经历 is what happened to you.
