Definition
结冰 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to freeze' or 'to ice over'. The verb 结 and the object 冰 can split when you insert a duration, measure word, or other element between them — for example, 结了冰 ('has frozen'), 结过一次冰 ('froze once'), or 结了两天冰 ('froze for two days'). You cannot put a direct object after 结冰; instead, the subject is the thing that freezes (e.g. 水结冰了 'the water froze').
