Definition

绝对 (jué duì) means 'absolutely, unconditional'. Unlike 根本 (gēn běn) or 万万 (wàn wàn), which are used mainly before negatives to mean 'at all' or 'by no means', 绝对 can be used in both positive and negative statements without that restriction. It is the standard, strong adverb for 'absolutely' in modern Chinese.
