Definition
幺 (yāo) is the colloquial way to say the digit '1' in contexts where clarity matters — especially over the phone, in serial numbers, or in military/aviation communication. It avoids confusion with yī, which can sound like other tones or be misheard. 幺 also means 'youngest' in family terms like 幺妹 (youngest sister) or 幺儿 (youngest son). This second sense is not a numeral, so the POS label 'num.' only covers the first sense.
