Definition
编织 (biān zhī) is the general verb for weaving, knitting, plaiting, or braiding — physically interlacing threads or yarn. It also figuratively means creating abstract things (dreams, stories, lies). Compare: 编 (biān) also means weave/plait but extends to editing or fabricating; 织 (zhī) is specific to weaving cloth or knitting; 编制 (biān zhì) is a formal compound for weaving or compiling plans.
