Definition
缴税 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to pay taxes'. The verb 缴 and object 税 can split apart to insert aspect markers or measure words, e.g. 缴了税 (paid taxes), 缴过一次税 (paid taxes once). You cannot put the payer directly after 缴税; instead say 缴税给国家 or use the formal 纳税.
