Definition
脸皮 literally means the skin of the face, but it's almost always used metaphorically to describe a person's sense of shame or sensitivity to embarrassment. The common collocations are 脸皮厚 (thick-skinned, i.e. shameless or not easily offended) and 脸皮薄 (thin-skinned, i.e. easily embarrassed or shy). As a noun, it can also refer to one's dignity or 'face' in social situations (面子 is more common for that, though).
