Definition
腐败 is the general term for political or social corruption — broader than 贪污 (embezzlement) and 堕落 (personal moral decay). It also means 'rotten' for organic matter, like 腐烂, but 腐烂 is more common for literal rotting; 腐败 emphasizes figurative decay of systems.
