Definition
自满 (zì mǎn) means 'complacent, self-satisfied' — a negative trait of being smug about one's achievements and not striving to improve. Unlike 骄傲 (jiāo ào), which can be positive ('proud of'), 自满 is always critical, and unlike 得意 (dé yì), which is often temporary pride after a specific success, 自满 describes a lasting, harmful attitude.
