Definition
The character 茄 has two readings: qié (meaning 'eggplant', as in 茄子) and jiā (only used in 雪茄 'cigar'). In this row, the pinyin is jiā, corresponding to the cigar reading. The meaning 'eggplant' in the source gloss is incorrect for this reading. You will almost never see 茄 alone with the jiā reading; it always appears in the compound 雪茄.
