调剂 (tiáo jì) means 'to regulate, adjust, or balance' — especially emotions, pace, or bodily functions for well-being. It differs from 调节 (tiáo jié, more technical/system regulation) and 调整 (tiáo zhěng, broader adjustment of plans/positions). 调剂 also has a unique medical sense: to compound a prescription.
