Definition
赐 (cì) means 'to bestow/confer' and is used when a superior (emperor, heaven, God) gives something as a favor or grace. Unlike 赏 (shǎng), which implies reward for merit, 赐 is about generous granting from a higher authority. It is more literary and hierarchical than 授予 (shòuyǔ, to award a title).
