越境 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to cross a border', usually implying an illegal or unauthorized crossing. It can be split: 越 can take measure words or complements between it and 境, e.g. 越了一次境 ('crossed the border once'). It is a formal term often used in legal, military, or political contexts. Do not confuse with 出境 (to leave the country legally) or 入境 (to enter legally).
