Definition
跳高 (tiào gāo) is a specific track-and-field event: the high jump, where you jump over a bar. It contrasts with 跳远 (tiào yuǎn, long jump) in direction (high vs. far). Unlike the general verb 跳 (tiào, to jump), 跳高 is a separable verb (跳…高), as in 跳了两次高.
