Definition
辞退 (cí tuì) means 'to dismiss/fire' an employee, always initiated by the employer. It is more formal than 解雇 (jiě gù) and less punitive than 开除 (kāi chú, which implies expulsion with disgrace). Do not confuse with 辞职 (cí zhí, 'to resign'), which is the employee's own action.
