Definition
过奖 (guò jiǎng) is a polite, self-deprecating reply when someone compliments you — it literally means 'overpraise' but functions as 'You flatter me'. Unlike words like 恭维 (to flatter others) or 吹捧 (excessive praise), 过奖 is a fixed expression used only to modestly deflect praise directed at yourself, not to describe flattering someone else.
