Definition
还魂 is a separable verb (离合词) literally meaning 'return the soul.' It describes revival after death in a supernatural sense, and can also be used metaphorically for a comeback (of a trend, institution, etc.). When splitting, the object 魂 takes inserted elements like 了, 过, or time expressions between the two characters: 还了魂, 还过魂.
