Definition
邪 (xié) means 'evil, wicked' with a supernatural/demonic connotation, stronger than 恶 (è) and distinct from 邪恶 (xié è) which is more general; colloquially it means 'strange, abnormal' in a weird/unhealthy way, unlike 怪 (guài) which is neutral or 反常 (fǎn cháng) which describes deviation from the norm. It also refers to pathogenic factors in Chinese medicine.
