Definition
酿酒 is a separable verb-object compound (离合词). The verb 酿 (to brew) and the object 酒 (alcohol) can be separated by measure words, durations, or other elements — for example, 酿了三年酒 ('brewed wine for three years') or 酿过几次酒 ('brewed wine a few times'). You use it for the process of making any alcoholic beverage: wine, beer, liquor, etc. When you don't need to specify quantity or duration, you can keep it together as 酿酒.
