针 (zhēn) is a noun for a thin, pointed object used in sewing, medical injections, or surgical stitches. Unlike 注射 (zhùshè), which is the verb 'to inject', 针 refers to the needle itself or the act of getting a shot (打针). It is not related to 密码 (mìmǎ 'password/PIN') or 缝 (fèng 'crack/seam').
